The Highly Anticipated Collaboration Creates "Com des Carrés"
Rei Kawakubo, the creative force behind Comme des Garçons, has partnered with Hermès to design the "Com des Carrés" scarf. The collection launched on Friday, February 8th, at Comme des Garçons Tokyo Aoyama and Dover Street Market Ginza Comme des Garçons, and will be available until Sunday, March 31st.

Kawakubo's Unique Vision on the Carré
This highly anticipated collaboration was conceived to bring Rei Kawakubo's unique vision to Hermès' iconic "Carré." In response, Kawakubo has created two limited-edition collections: "Black & White" and "Color."
The "Black & White" collection features five designs rendered in monochrome, a signature of Comme des Garçons. The absence of color allows the patterns to emerge abstractly, and these pieces are exclusively sold at Comme des Garçons stores in Tokyo Aoyama, New York, and Paris.
Meanwhile, the "Color" collection, available in six variations, is exclusively sold at Dover Street Market in Ginza and London. This playful, colorful, and geometric collection, featuring rectangular shapes and oversized patchwork designs, reimagines the traditional "Carré" with a sense of surprise.
Bali Barret, Artistic Director of Hermès' women's division, commented, "Rei Kawakubo has expressed her unique world with rigor, precision, energy, and clarity on the Carré." Kawakubo added, "I wanted to explore the transformation that occurs when adding an element to Hermès' beautiful, painting-like Carré. By combining it with abstract imagery, I've transformed the Carré and created something new."
Both collections will also be available online at Dover Street Market (www.doverstreetmarket.com). The "Color" collection will be released on Wednesday, February 6th, followed by the "Black & White" collection on Monday, April 1st.
