FLISTFIA | The Domestic Brand to Watch
Specializing in Innerwear with a Focus on Texture and Silhouette
The Latest Collection Features "Mid-Tones"
Launched in Spring/Summer 2009, FLISTFIA is now in its sixth season as a menswear brand specializing in innerwear. With a dedication to fabric texture and silhouette, the 2013 Spring/Summer collection features items like shirts made from cut-and-sew fabric and brushed-back sweatshirts crafted from loop-wheeled cotton, all with details designed to capture the male heart. Here, designer Hiroshi Kuramoto explains the brand's latest collection, which balances sizing to achieve a high-class feel.

Creating Clothes You'll Find Yourself Reaching For Every Day
—What is the theme/concept for the 2013 Spring/Summer collection?
We don't set a specific theme each season; we simply create what we feel like making at the time.
—Please tell us about the theme/concept.
I think everyone has experienced this: you splurge on something expensive or highly coveted, only to have it sit unworn in your wardrobe. Conversely, you might buy something casually without much thought, and then find yourself wearing it constantly.
At FLISTFIA, we aim to create clothes that you'll instinctively reach for each morning, finding yourself thinking, "I seem to be wearing this all the time." We believe that not only is over-engineering important, but a sense of playfulness is also a key quality. Our core concept revolves around the overall balance of sizing, texture, details, and price.
—What are the key looks (outfits)?
The three key looks are shown above. We propose a layering style that takes casual items like cardigans and elevates them slightly within a casual framework, creating a refined and clean atmosphere for a light, effortless wear.
—What are the key items?
For the random border pattern, we meticulously adjusted each border width to the millimeter on the actual pattern, repeating revisions to achieve the optimal balance, resulting in a highly atmospheric item. Additionally, our jersey shirts are constructed not with typical cut-and-sew specifications, but closer to woven shirts. This allows them to offer the comfort of cut-and-sew while retaining the structured tailoring of a proper shirt.
—What are the key colors?
This is true for every season, but we place great importance on "FLISTFIA's colors." We aim for subtle, nuanced shades – mid-tones, rather than distinct, easily identifiable colors. This might be the most crucial element for FLISTFIA.
—Are there any designers or brands you are currently paying attention to?

—Do you have a message for your fans?
We are truly delighted that some customers seem to purchase items in different colors or fabrics each season. We will continue to cherish subtle changes without deviating significantly from our core principles, so we hope you'll look forward to each new season.
