THE NERDYS | The spotlight is on domestic menswear brand THE NERDYS's 2013 Spring/Summer collection.
THE NERDYS
For those immersed in music, devoid of fashion sense.
The Latest Collection Dedicated to Nard Boys Worldwide
Dedicated to nard boys worldwide—NERD is English slang for someone unfashionable. The brand THE NERDYS states, “Our muses are people deeply immersed in music, with no sense of fashion.” Designer Nerkle explains, “They walk onto the stage with an air of nonchalance, wearing whatever was closest when they left the house. There’s a coolness within their uncoolness that captivates the heart. THE NERDYS was conceived with the idea of creating stage wear for them.”

The World of THE NERDYS: A Brand That Crosses Over with Music
—What is the theme/concept for the 2013 Spring/Summer collection?
We don't have a consistent theme.
—Please tell us about the theme/concept.
It's simplicity based on American traditional style. All woven fabrics are seersucker. We continue to focus on seersucker from this season onwards. The jackets, shirts, and slacks are designed with a suit style in mind. We are confident in our patterns and fabric quality.
The brand's icon is round glasses. We also have a collaboration with Japan's leading eyewear brand, ayame. Furthermore, to allow people to experience the world of THE NERDYS more authentically, we have enlisted music producer Sohei Tsurutani to create a selection of music with a nerdy visual focus.
Sohei Tsurutani
In the late 80s, he was inspired by Smokey Robinson and Otis Redding and began listening to soul music (after which he explored music eclectically). He later organized the free outdoor party "YOYOGI FRIENDSHIP PROJECT" in Yoyogi Park, and subsequently joined a record company. In '99, he started SPIRAL RECORDS in Aoyama (serving as director for the shop and label “farlove” until 2008). In '08, he opened the music cafe bar "NEWPORT" in Yoyogi-Hachiman.
