What is Universal Warmth?

RIVORA is a menswear brand launched by designer Yasuhiro Suzuki, then 29 years old, starting with the Spring/Summer 2010 collection. He quickly distinguished himself, winning the Tokyo New Designer Fashion Grand Prix in 2011.

With the theme of "fashion for adults to enjoy," Suzuki crafts his clothing with a focus on superior materials, comfortable wear, and a silhouette that strikes a perfect balance between neither too tight nor too loose. The more you wear these garments, the more you realize the intricate details woven into their simplicity.

The brand name is a fusion of three words meaning river: "river," "rio" (Portuguese), and "kawa" (Japanese). The creation process involves many people, much like a river. The brand draws a parallel between rivers, the source of life that shapes societies and cultures around them, and the process of making things, where collaboration among diverse individuals leads to superior outcomes.

The theme for Autumn/Winter 2012 is "Universal Warmth." Suzuki explains, "The warmth of clothing is only truly born when it encounters people; it exists through mutual relationships. When I say simple, I don't mean stripping things down to their bare essentials, but rather focusing on the space in between, on balance." Items made from wool and other materials, while retaining their excellent construction and fabric quality, create a soft and warm atmosphere.

In Tokyo, these items are available at shops such as ARK in Mejiro and Blason de Terre in Hiroo.
