A Work Beyond Advertising: "Beyond Mountains. More Mountains"
55DSL's 2012 Autumn/Winter campaign film is now available on the official website (http://www.55dsl.jp). Created in collaboration with the acclaimed production company "CANADA," the film embodies the brand's DNA: "YOUTH, FREEDOM, FUN, ITALY."

A Love Story Set Against the Beauty of Old Italy
The postmodern love story follows a couple traveling through Italy by car, motorcycle, bus, and on foot, beginning when the girl loses her boots. Art and simulation, imagination and improvisation, script and spontaneous conversation, chance and destiny—contrasting elements blend stylishly, conveying deep passion. It's a story that is classical and fantastical, yet like a modern road movie. The couple's journey to find the lost boots is interspersed with the timeless beauty of Italy.
The Spanish production company "CANADA," with whom they collaborated this time, comprises directors Nicolás Méndez, Lope Serrano, and Luis Cerveró, all based in Barcelona. They are renowned for their work on music videos for numerous artists, and last year, they won Best Director at the MTV Video Music Awards for Battles' "Ice Cream."
〈Nicolás Méndez Interview〉
"55DSL was incredibly supportive of us as we approached the shoot without a script. We're very grateful for their trust in our creative process. When we started this project, we thought about what our foundation would be. Italian art, literature, and cinema came to mind. We felt we needed to travel through contemporary Italy to see if that culture still existed. Through this story, we wanted to capture both our perception of Italy and the reality of it."
"Beyond Mountains. More Mountains" is CANADA's first short film and also their most ambitious project to date. The journey, spanning over two weeks, was documented from the mountains of Northern Italy to Stromboli in Sicily. All the music in the film is by Italian composer Riz Ortolani, adding a delicate and innocent touch to the narrative.
Will the lost boots be found? This is a work that makes you forget it's an advertisement for a brand.
