The Letters
Second Season Debut, Finished with Attention to Every Button
Autumn/Winter 2012-13 Collection
The world designer Yuichi Mukoda paints with his menswear brand "The Letters" is "quality real clothes that fuse a down-to-earth feel with a modern essence." Mukoda translates his appreciation for the good old days and what he currently deems good, adding a texture reminiscent of long-loved, well-worn garments, into comfortable clothing for everyday wear.

Craftsmanship Pursued to the Detail, Responding to Affection
"While prioritizing comfort above all, I create the whole piece, from fabric to details, and focus on the minute aspects of processing and sewing. We engage in solid craftsmanship that allows for long-term use," says Mukoda, who debuted with the Spring/Summer 2012 collection after gaining sales experience at a select shop in Fukuoka and further experience with a fashion brand.
For the Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection, details from the workwear worn by laborers in the 1910s-30s are expressed through items such as three-piece suits and coats. Oil-cut wool and corduroy are product-washed to shed their hard, earthy image, achieving a texture that suggests years of wear. For garments in contact with the skin, such as shirts and cut-and-sew items, soft and gentle materials are used to pursue comfort.
Furthermore, to create a unified feel throughout the collection, zippers are entirely omitted, with all fastenings being buttons. Jackets and shirts, for instance, feature real horn buttons, exuding an authentic atmosphere. The leather series, including jackets made from the reverse side of deerskin, and fur vests made from Kalgan lamb, are also not to be missed.
