Wallets made from vintage baseball gloves – only 200 worldwide!

Last year, Coach celebrated its 70th anniversary. In its early days, the brand used the same cowhide as the gloves favored by major leaguers of the era, such as Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio, to create wallets, business bags, and room slippers. Later, Coach developed its own iconic material, known as "Clubtan Leather." This traditional leather has continued to evolve, and is now cherished by many fans as "Retro Clubtan Leather."





The deep connection between Coach and baseball is evident, with early items featuring baseball-shaped hang tags. The "Baseball Heritage Collection" offers a bifold wallet crafted from vintage baseball gloves, personally sourced by the design team, as if to retrace the history of Coach and baseball. This wallet is made by deconstructing and cutting vintage gloves, then sewing them anew. Each piece, reflecting its origin as a vintage glove, has a unique character, distinguished by a stamp and numbering that signify its limited-edition status, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

In addition, the collection includes a baseball-shaped paperweight, baseball gloves created in collaboration with renowned sports manufacturers, and a rugged, handsome chocolate-colored gym bag based on archival designs. These will be exclusively available from June at Coach Marunouchi, Coach Ginza, and the Coach online store.

Sales from the customized gloves will support disaster-affected children

To commemorate the launch of the "Baseball Heritage Collection," Coach is also introducing a Japan-exclusive customized glove campaign, where cherished gloves filled with memories can be remade into wallets. After an order is placed, the gloves are sent to Coach's headquarters workshop, where artisans deconstruct and cut them, transforming them into new wallets.





All proceeds from this customized glove initiative will be donated toGreat East Japan EarthquakeNPOs "Kodomo Project" and "Kids Door," which support children affected by the disaster and their families who have evacuated outside Fukushima Prefecture. The funds are intended for expenses such as holding sports events for disaster-affected children.
