Finding novelty through the deconstruction of traditional items

m’s braque began by expressing unique pattern-making through rare materials and design elements that cannot be replicated today, such as vintage and deadstock items, which designer Takahiro Matsushita discovered during his travels across Europe.

Regarding the 2012-13 Autumn/Winter collection, Matsushita states, “There is no season theme. Each season, we focus on proposing new cuts, sewing techniques, and specifications. This season’s features include patchwork jackets made by sewing together completed parts, and tailored jackets that appear to be constructed from a single piece of fabric.”

Furthermore, “As a deconstruction of traditional items, we are also proposing duffle coats made by bonding dressy materials with high-tech fabrics, pea coats with extreme oversized buttons created by bonding knitwear with high-tech materials, and items featuring quilting on silk chiffon (leopard print) and silk velvet.”

The highlight is the men’s costume suit. Matsushita says, “It has a unique cut unlike anything else. The combination of the curved jacket at the V-zone and the flared trousers makes it a suit befitting the name ‘costume’.”

For women, the draped jacket with a belt and the cape are fresh. This season, we’ve focused more on mature women, emphasizing the luxurious feel and softness of the materials.
