Highlight: A Sophisticated Loafer from Paraboot × BEAMS!
Paraboot was born in 1927 in the Voiron region of France, founded by shoemaker Remy Richard-Pontvert. The brand is renowned for its robust Norwegian-welted construction, originally used for hiking boots, its natural latex soles sourced from the Port of Pará in Brazil—which also gave the brand its name—and uppers crafted from meticulously selected, high-quality leather. While possessing a refined aesthetic, Paraboot embodies a spirit of unpretentious durability, creating timeless masterpieces.
A trunk show by Paraboot will be held at BEAMS Ginza from Friday, March 23rd to Sunday, April 8th. This event celebrates the major renewal and reopening of BEAMS Ginza on Friday, March 23rd. A wide array of variations, including the classic "Chambord" and "Michael," will be on display, offering a chance to experience France's exceptional craftsmanship firsthand.
Making its debut at the trunk show is the sophisticated loafer from Paraboot × BEAMS. Among the collaborative shoes with BEAMS, which has introduced many masterpieces like the Chambord and Michael, this creation stands out with its unique character.
This model is based on the "Reims," a lesser-known but enduringly popular model within Paraboot's lineup. The "Reims" can be described as a loafer version of the iconic Tyrolean shoe, the "Michael," first released in 1986. Since then, it has elegantly graced the feet of gentlemen embracing BCBG style and Japanese dandies alike. Although production ceased in 1995, it made a highly anticipated return in 2009 in response to numerous fan requests.
While the upper has traditionally used calfskin leather, this iteration features "Rayé leather," first introduced in the Spring/Summer 2012 season. Rayé leather is a modern take on grained leather. It sheds the rustic feel of embossed leather, which is said to resemble wheat stalks, and instead presents a sophisticated and sleek impression. Furthermore, the instep incorporates seal leather, familiar from the "Michael Fox." This loafer boasts a unique aesthetic, blending the refined quality of Rayé leather with the ruggedness of seal leather. Naturally, it utilizes the original natural Paratex sole, ensuring not only waterproofness but also durability and comfort, making them suitable for rigorous wear in any weather.
This loafer seems to encapsulate both the history and the innovative spirit of Paraboot. It not only challenges preconceived notions of the brand but also points towards a new vision for Paraboot.
During the event, customers who purchase Paraboot shoes priced at 50,000 yen or more will receive a special shoe tree as a gift. Additionally, if you select a model with shoelaces, you will receive an extra pair of colored shoelaces. Furthermore, on Saturdays and Sundays, March 31st, April 1st, April 7th, and April 8th, you can also receive a shoe shining service from a dedicated Paraboot staff member with your purchase. Don't miss this opportunity!
