MACKINTOSH: A Brand That Continues to Evolve, Impressing Professionals Across Industries



The story began in 1823 with the invention of Macintosh cloth by Charles Macintosh. In an era when waterproof fabrics were limited to canvas treated with oil for water repellency, this high-performance rubberized fabric quickly gained popularity throughout Britain. In the UK, the term "Mackintosh" is still used as a generic word for raincoat, a testament to its enduring familiarity.

Beyond rubberized fabrics, all their coats, including those made from water-repellent textiles, are still crafted in Britain. This commitment to craftsmanship, passed down through generations, is a hallmark of this historic and traditional brand. In recent years, MACKINTOSH has also presented ambitious collections through collaborations with various brands, including Junya Watanabe, Maison Kitsuné, and Margaret Howell. Their items, possessing a blend of classical and contemporary appeal, continue to enchant us in the modern era.

The lineup features distinguished individuals such as MASAYA KUROKI of Maison Kitsuné, musician Yukihiro Takahashi, BEAMS Creative Director Tatsuya Nakamura, and Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall, who designed the interior of MACKINTOSH's London flagship store.

For instance, Maurizio Donadi, Global Senior Vice President of LEVI’S XX, describes the brand as "strong, tough, and elegant. Unwavering, powerful, and chic," while product designer Shin Azumi notes, "The appeal lies in the material texture and silhouette unique to rubberized fabric."
