Gary Oldman Delivers a Powerful Performance as a Veteran Spy

Based on the acclaimed novel by John le Carré, a former British intelligence officer himself, this story unfolds during the Cold War in London, where MI6 and the Soviet KGB were locked in a fierce intelligence battle. The protagonist delves into the past of four suspects to uncover a Soviet double agent within the British intelligence agency, known as 'The Circus.' The narrative, devoid of flashy action, progresses with a measured tone as the protagonist pieces together testimonies and identifies the mole.





Designer Paul Smith served as an advisor for the costumes, set design, and overall atmosphere, recreating 1970s London for this thrilling film. His deep understanding of British art and cultural history, channeled through fashion, lends further credibility to the cinematic world. The Paul Smith Omotesando store will also exhibit photographs taken by Gary Oldman and photographer Jack English during the film's production, highlighting the brand's strong connection to the movie.

'I am honored to have been asked to contribute to Tomas Alfredson's new film, 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.' Apparently, the catalyst was him attending a lecture I gave in Stockholm and finding my perspective on things interesting. Afterwards, I read the script and contemplated various aspects, such as the film's mood, colors, and cinematography. I had never done anything like this before, so I was completely unsure if I was doing the right thing. However, I am very pleased that Tomas was satisfied with my presentation,' says Paul Smith.





Since its premiere at last year's Venice Film Festival, the film has received critical acclaim worldwide, and lead actor Gary Oldman earned his first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. The cast boasts a wealth of talent, including Colin Firth, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for 'The King's Speech,' Tom Hardy from 'Inception,' and John Hurt from 'Harry Potter.'

The protagonist deceives his enemies, and the intricate web of plot twists deceives the audience as well. This is a film that demands your undivided attention from start to finish.
