The "Nike Air Rift" Returns in its Original 1996 Colorway
Inspired by Kenyan long-distance runners who dominated international competitions and their practice of running barefoot, the unique footwear "NIKE AIR RIFT" first released in 1996 is back. The original colorway will be available from April 27th (Monday) on NIKE.COM/SPORTSWEAR and at select Nike Sportswear retailers, with new men's and women's colors launching after May 4th (Monday).

Footwear That Promotes More Natural Foot Movement
The "Nike Air Rift," a fusion of sneaker and sandal, was named after the home of the swift runners who inspired its creation, incorporating colors from their national flag and the name derived from the Rift Valley region of Kenya.
Although no major advertising campaign was launched at the time of its release, the shoe, characterized by its unique split-toe design and snug, elastic fit, captivated users with its innovative style and comfort.
Furthermore, the Air Rift's distinctive design, which splits the big toe from the other toes to facilitate flexion, was inspired by the fault lines of Kenya's beautiful Great Rift Valley.
Releasing again this summer, the Air Rift features an engineered textile upper that repels water and provides optimal breathability. While enhancing the Air Rift's signature style, it works in conjunction with an outsole that allows for natural foot movement, and a split-toe construction that improves grip.
Additionally, two hook-and-loop straps on the heel and instep allow for adjustable fit, providing a secure hold for the foot.
