A Restart Dedicated to Founder Max
MAX PITTION is a legendary eyewear brand founded in 1921 in Oyonnax, a small town in the southern Jura region of the French Alps, which reached its peak in the 1960s and 70s. Four years after the founder Max's passing, in 2013, John Mayer, an avid collector of vintage eyewear, acquired the brand rights and revived it.
The designs are handled by Tammy O'Gara, who has also worked on eyewear for Native Sons, Supreme, and Visvim. The frames are crafted entirely by hand in their own factory in Sabae, Fukui.
For its relaunch, the brand produced "POLITICIAN" and "SHERBY," models that reinterpret the original designs for a contemporary audience. These were sold exclusively at select retailers like Colette in Paris and Dover Street Market, generating significant buzz.
Last year, in its second year, the brand released two models: "VEGA" and "GITANE." The frames, featuring beautiful gradients that evoke a chic French sensibility, are made from durable acetate resin, highlighting their luxurious and elegant texture.
This Year, a Slightly Slimmer New Model, "MAESTRO," Appears
The new "MAESTRO" frame in the latest collection is available in bone, a chic smoky tortoiseshell, and tortoiseshell patterns in black and blue.
Additionally, the brand's iconic "POLITICIAN" model now comes in an oversized frame. The chunky vintage feel is enhanced with a powerful presence, creating a avant-garde fashion statement.
Max Pittion frames are made from acetate, derived from cotton oil, making them eco-friendly frames that contain no petroleum-based chemical substances and are exceptionally comfortable against the skin. All rivets pass through and support the frame, showcasing advanced craftsmanship dedicated to achieving a comfortable fit.
