CHUNGKAWAI Spring/Summer 2015 Collection

A Latest Collection Expressed Through Functional Materials and Patterns

This season, CHUNGKAWAI presents items crafted from soft, comfortable Swiss cotton and stretch jersey, alongside shirts featuring sublimation prints. Designer Masayuki Kawai states, "As with previous seasons, we continue to offer combination pants with stretch material from the knee down, as well as reversible items and pieces that can be worn in two ways, such as those with lapels that can be folded inward."

Focus on Materials That Convey Lightness and Comfort

──What is the theme/concept for the Spring/Summer 2015 collection?

We don't set a specific season concept, as is our usual approach. However, I am personally drawn to how sports culture has become more integrated into our lifestyles. This season, we've extensively incorporated functional materials and patterns (templates).

──What are the differences in styling, silhouette, and color compared to last year's Spring/Summer collection?

Last year, we used materials with a natural luster, such as silk and linen. This year, however, we offer items in stretch jersey and comfortable cotton. By applying these to jackets as well, we've achieved a sense of lightness and comfort.

Key Colors: Black, Navy, and Light Gray

──What are the key items and key colors?

Key items include stretch jersey jackets, cut-and-sew pieces, and pants. Also, reversible jackets made with Swiss cotton, and shirts featuring sublimation prints. The key colors are black, navy, and light gray.

──What "materials" did you focus on this season?

We've used bonded fabrics and breathable materials.

──What are the signature items, silhouettes, or materials that define "CHUNGKAWAI"?

Our combination series, which we've offered since the brand's inception, extends beyond pants to include shirts and cut-and-sew items. A characteristic of this season is the incorporation of stretch materials into these pieces.
