Focus on Exquisite Materials and Beautiful Silhouettes

Entering its fourth season, salvy; presents a light color palette based in beige and navy, accented with lime green and orange. Designer Hiromichi Go states, "We are expanding the collection with items that add a touch of flair to your styling, including the oversized cut-and-sew tops that were popular last summer, our first knitwear items, and big-silhouette shirts made from 160/2 high-density poplin."

Looks Featuring This Season's Signature Vintage Mohair Tropical Fabric

──What is the theme/concept for the 2015 Spring/Summer collection?

While we haven't set a specific theme for the season, we develop our collections based on the brand concept of "pursuing what can only be expressed by Japanese people, rooted in traditional techniques and culture."

──What were the key points and aspects you wanted to highlight in this season's lookbook shoot?

This season, as well, we focused on meticulous details such as the way light falls and angles, to express the inherent allure of the fabrics woven from high-quality raw materials.

──What are the differences in styling, silhouette, and color compared to last year's Spring/Summer collection?

To express the exquisite material feel and beautiful silhouettes directly, we adopted a neutral styling that avoids any unnecessary embellishments.

──What are the key looks (outfits) for this season?

The two looks featuring the vintage mohair tropical fabric are particularly iconic. We used wool tropical fabric woven with deadstock kid mohair blended yarn for the weft, creating a shop coat designed to be worn loosely, a jacket with no front darts that relies solely on the fabric's structure, and trousers with three-dimensional side stripes. Details like the立体的な pockets offer both accent and functionality, while fully leveraging the unique crispness and luster of mohair, we've meticulously incorporated strong tailoring elements.

Modern Expressions of "Japan's Traditional Techniques and Culture"

──What are the key items and key colors?

Our key items are a pullover and shorts made from original pattern jacquard brushed lining. Using a jacquard knitting machine for brushed lining, we created an original pattern jacquard brushed lining with pre-dyed cotton for the pile side and Tencel for the flat side. It's characterized by the textured pile surface and a pattern that's a modern take on Edo Komon designs. This is how we express "Japan's traditional techniques and culture," which we value most as a brand, in a contemporary way.

──What "materials" did you focus on this season?

The shirt fabric this season has turned out beautifully. In particular, the high-density poplin, woven with tightly packed 160/2 cotton for both warp and weft, possesses a luster and suppleness that belies its 100% cotton composition. Shirts made from this fabric feature a relaxed width and our brand's signature pattern construction, with the side seams shifted backward, resulting in shirts with a voluminous, air-filled silhouette that showcases the material's characteristics. We hope you'll experience them firsthand.

──Please tell us about the items, silhouettes, or materials that are synonymous with salvy;.

The "BIZEN No. 1 Twill Series" is a staple item that we refine slightly each season. It's woven to an extreme density on old-fashioned power looms, almost to the limit of what's possible, and then given a light brushing for a smooth texture. The fabric doesn't weaken even after about a year of wear, so we propose jackets and trousers designed to be worn and cherished for years (two to three years). This season, in addition to the standard colors (beige, navy), we've added a playful crazy pattern option.

──What inspires the brand's creativity?

Newness. We draw inspiration from encounters with new "things and experiences," not just in fashion, but also in technology, photography, interior design, and even everyday items found in雑貨屋 (zakka shops).
