A Modern Space with a Vintage Feel
Woolrich's history began in 1930 when John Rich II, a British immigrant, established America's first woolen mill in Plum Run, Pennsylvania. Initially, he sold fabrics from a horse-drawn wagon, moving between campsites. Eventually, he developed his own products, such as socks and blankets, gaining a reputation for quality.
During the Civil War, the company manufactured blankets for the Union Army. Subsequently, it introduced many new products, including hunting jackets and pants. Following World War II, which brought immense demand, Woolrich solidified its name as "the most reliable company capable of integrated production from raw materials (wool) to finished goods."
In 2010, to mark its 180th anniversary, the "Arctic Parka" was renewed with a contemporary silhouette. In 2012, the "New Arctic Parka" was born, further evolved with three-dimensional pattern cutting. It continues to be a highly popular icon of the brand.
The WOOLRICH Omotesando store, designed by the globally acclaimed Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall, features a contemporary space with a vintage aesthetic across its two floors. It offers the brand's full line for men and women, including the iconic Arctic Parka, the first line "Woolrich Woolen Mills," and popular blankets.
The opening commemorative limited-edition items for men include four models: a field jacket and vest in Buffalo Check, and an Arctic Parka with the same pattern lining.
