For the Men Who Have Waited
The Prêt Collection from "Massaro" Arrives

While "Massaro" is known for crafting shoes for esteemed Maisons like Chanel, for men, it had previously been limited to custom-made orders, leaving many men to look on with longing. Now, good news for those "admirers." The first ready-to-wear (prêt) collection, featuring a lineup of six styles, has arrived—released in March 2010.

True Luxury Speaks for Itself

For stylish women, "Massaro" is likely a familiar name. Wallis Simpson, Mona Bismarck, Marlene Dietrich, Romy Schneider... The shoes, beloved by countless celebrities, were so closely associated with their wearers that they often became synonymous with their personal style. Massaro met their demands for novel footwear by creating shoes that possessed elegance, dignity, and originality.

Raymond Massaro, the founder's grandson, began crafting shoes not only for individual clients but also for numerous fashion brands. He has created footwear for Maisons such as Christian Lacroix, John Galliano, and Azzedine Alaïa, but most notably, for Chanel. The beige sandal with a black satin toe, which he helped develop in 1952, is now an icon of Chanel.

The masterful craftsmanship of Massaro, now widely recognized, was naturally also a source of fascination for dapper gentlemen. However, only a select few connoisseurs could benefit from it.

Until now, Massaro had only fulfilled this "craving" for men through custom-made orders. Now, Massaro is set to unveil its first "prêt" collection. What does this new step entail, spearheaded by Philippe Atienza, the current director who inherited the role from Raymond Massaro—a graduate of the French National School of Arts and Crafts with extensive experience as a shoemaker?

The collection comprises six styles in total: two derby styles, three oxford styles, and one buckle style. The shoe width is deliberately kept narrow, and the toe line, neither too rounded nor tapered, creates a classic style that transcends time. Massaro's men's shoes, crafted from kidskin using the Goodyear welted construction, offer durability and quality that will satisfy discerning eyes. They are available in three colors: black, chocolate, and tobacco. With half sizes offered, you are sure to find a pair that fits your feet perfectly.

To those seeing them for the first time, the silhouette might appear somewhat "unconventional." The long nose and the sleek proportions that avoid any noticeable difference between the left and right are elements far removed from Massaro's typical shoe design.

However, this is precisely because they are molded to the natural shape of the foot. This unconventionality not only promises exceptional comfort when worn but also, in terms of external beauty, allows the shoes to perform at their best when worn by a person.

True luxury is when the object itself speaks—Massaro shoes bear no logos, not even on the insoles. The only indication that it is Massaro is the fiddle-back combination of yellow and black. The subtle hint of Massaro's craftsmanship, which has impressed numerous couturiers and is now enhanced by seasoned skill, signifies its undisputed position at the pinnacle of both name and substance.
