This collaboration, “buddy for FRED PERRY,” was realized through a shared resonance with buddy's commitment to craftsmanship, encompassing everything from material sourcing to manufacturing within Japan. Named after the Whippet, a British dog breed known for its sleek physique and excellent sprinting ability, the “Whippet” features Fred Perry's signature sharp design.
Two types of Whippets will be available: one crafted from glass leather, prized for its luster and durability, and another from velour suede, a rare 2mm thickness in Japan.
The lining uses chrome-free tanned cowhide, and the Derby (open lacing) style features a sharp design with a leather-branded heel loop incorporating the characteristic two-line tipping.
The outsole is made of domestically produced rubber, known for its lightness, softness, comfort, and abrasion resistance. It utilizes a cup sole construction, common in tennis shoes, with a durable side-stitched welt construction that securely joins the outsole to the shoe.
