CHUNGKAWAI | Spring/Summer 2014 Collection
CHUNGKAWAI | CHUNGKAWAI
Focus on material selection that offers a subtle, high-quality texture.
A touch of the avant-garde in casual style.
For the Spring/Summer 2014 season, designer Masayuki Kawai of "CHUNGKAWAI" states, "We've deliberately minimized model shots to clearly convey the texture of the materials and the quality of the items." Pay attention to the styling centered around the key item, the 'combination pants.'

The latest collection, expressed through material feel and item variety.
—What is the theme/concept for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection?
Considering the current trends, we've intentionally omitted a specific season theme. By not setting a theme, we wanted more people to experience the world of "CHUNGKAWAI," and we also aim to further strengthen our combination series, which has become a key item for the brand.
—What are the differences from last year's Spring/Summer collection in terms of styling, silhouette, and color?
We don't want to drastically change the world of "CHUNGKAWAI," so we haven't made major alterations to the item details. Instead, we've focused on the material feel and the range of items.
—What is the key look (coordination) for this season?
We're focusing on styling centered around the key item, the combination pants, aiming for a casual style that also conveys a sense of the avant-garde.
—What are the key items and key colors?
The key colors are gray, navy, and black.
—What "materials" did you focus on this season?
We've incorporated natural luster from materials like silk and linen, but we've chosen materials that offer a subtle, high-quality texture without being overly conspicuous. We've also used reflective tape at key points, so we hope wearers will appreciate the functional elements.
—What are you currently noticing in the fashion scene?
It aligns with my personal goals, but I want to pay attention to various people and things beyond the confines of fashion, so that Japanese creators are not confined to Japan but are more highly regarded overseas.
—Please tell us your personal goals for 2014, whether for work or private life.
Not drinking too much, perhaps.
