Monsieur Lacenaire
The Spring/Summer 2014 Collection: Playing in a Jungle of Stitches
Focus on Humorous Intarsia Knit Patterns
Monsieur Lacenaire, the French menswear knitwear brand known for exploring the possibilities of knitwear and gaining many fans with pieces like the "TEDDY" stadium jumper-style knit, has arrived with its Spring/Summer 2014 collection. This season, too, the witty concept and image visuals are exceptionally delightful.

The Pinnacle of Monsieur Lacenaire's Technically Demanding Knits
The designer's message: "Drive into the sea of intarsia knitting and jump into the bubbles of knitwear!"—This season, bird silhouettes created with wooden tangram puzzles and trees embedded within knit patterns are expressed through Monsieur Lacenaire's signature humorous intarsia knits, using Egyptian cotton.
While the colors and patterns are pop-inspired, a key feature is the use of multiple techniques within a single knit—such as eyelet, cable, and intarsia—to create texture and dynamic variation.
The Grid Paper Background of the Looks Evokes Knitting Patterns
For designer Garance Brogault, the process of first devising knitting methods, translating them into patterns, and expressing concrete shapes with tangrams are equally challenging and enjoyable. This season, the bird, a symbol of the theme, is expressed accordingly.
