This Season's Premier Menswear Capsule Collection – While Supplies Last

The Mauritz Archive Collection is a capsule collection spanning from H&M's founding in 1968 to 2013, featuring 21 styles of clothing and accessories. Several items are crafted from fabrics by esteemed heritage textile manufacturers like MOON, imbuing them with a sense of authenticity.

The design for this capsule collection was led by Petter Klusell, born in Sweden in 1975, an H&M Division Designer. Two years ago, he discovered the name "Mauritz Widforss," an outdoor apparel store for men in central Stockholm, within a book he purchased from an antique shop. In 1968, "Hennes," H&M's first store, was located next to "Mauritz Widforss." Erling Persson, the founder of H&M, acquired "Mauritz Widforss" to expand his retail presence, renaming the newly opened store "Hennes & Mauritz" (the current H&M).

Petter Klusell explains, "It was a book about old Swedish hunting and fishing, and within the advertisements, I found Mauritz Widforss. I later realized that the store in the advertisement was the same Mauritz that became the origin of H&M's menswear design." He then began researching old Mauritz Widforss catalogs and archives, stored at the National Library of Sweden, to find inspiration and a sense of feeling for the collection's items.

"We meticulously examined our past archives and created a collection inspired by the outdoor wear sold at Mauritz Widforss. The collection reimagines classic pieces with a modern sensibility, allowing men to express their individual style," says Petter.

The Mauritz Archive Collection presents a fresh take on outdoor fashion, which was among H&M's earliest menswear offerings. Many pieces are crafted from fabrics by traditional, specialized manufacturers like British Millerain's oiled cotton and Abraham Moon & Sons' wool, exuding an authentic charm.
