FUJITO Fall/Winter 2013-14 Collection

Classic Looks, Effortless Comfort

Building Realistic Looks While Deepening the Brand's Worldview

This June, the brand's directly managed store "Directors" in Nagahama, Fukuoka, relocated and reopened.FUJITO, a brand that has been drawing attention. Regarding this season's lookbook shoot, designer Takeshi Fujito commented, "This is the first time we've asked stylist Nobuki Tanaka to shoot in Fukuoka. Working with Tokyo-based Tanaka, in addition to the production staff in Fukuoka where we normally create our products, was very stimulating. The use of fine accessories has resulted in a more realistic look."

Always Being Real Clothes

──What is the theme/concept for the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection?

We haven't set a specific theme, but this season sees an increase in items with a slightly British feel. Within that, we always strive to create real clothes as a brand.
Furthermore, while using classic tweed, we've incorporated lightweight and warm Thinsulate for the padding, creating a collection that balances a classic appearance with comfortable, light wear.

──What is the key look (coordination) for this season?

It's a look that pairs an orange 3-layer coat with a checkered shirt. A casually tied gray scarf around the neck serves to tone down the overall ensemble.

Key Item: Quilting Vest, Key Color: Orange

──What are the key items and key colors?

This season's key item is a reversible quilting vest. It's highly versatile, usable as an inner layer for coats on its shiny nylon side, or layered over knits or C.P.O shirts on its tweed side. It also offers warmth thanks to its Thinsulate padding.
The key color is orange. We want people to create striking outfits by using this vibrant orange, a color that offers a sense of bright hope, alongside classic colors like brown and navy.

──What "materials" did you focus on this season?

Brushed moleskin. It has a suede-like texture yet is soft and light, causing no stress to the wearer. I'm very drawn to materials that the wearer can feel more than an observer can see.

──What is the rewarding aspect of being a designer?

We design in Nagahama, a port town slightly removed from the center of Fukuoka City, where we also operate FUJITO's directly managed store. The clothes we design are manufactured in domestic factories, wholesaled to retailers nationwide, and then sold in our own store. It's genuinely gratifying to see the items I designed being sold right before my eyes.
I also handle customer service at the store myself, and while hearing opinions directly from customers can be daunting, it's also incredibly valuable. In this way, we have a small world that we can complete within our own scale. In a world that often doesn't go as planned, having something that can be completed pleasantly within a visible range makes me feel a little richer. Though they are small things, I find fulfillment in that daily cycle.

──A message to your fans.

While there are no flashy designs, the items have turned out to be very comfortable to wear. Please consider adding FUJITO to your wardrobe. We would be delighted if you enjoy combining them with items you already own.
