This season's theme: "MINIMAL ART ROCK 3"
A collection that further evolves and pursues the basic concept.
"We want you to focus on the layered rock style that expresses a new silhouette balance through vertical visual effects," says Yuichi Kuroda, designer of LAD MUSICIAN. Pay attention to the new balance and nuances created by freely layering jackets, shirts, cutsews, skirts, pants, apron bottoms, and accessories like snoods.

──What is the theme/concept for the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection?
This season's theme is "MINIMAL ART ROCK 3." It's a collection that further evolves and pursues the basic concept of "MINIMAL ART ROCK." The "3" in the title comes from the British indie rock band "Spacemen 3," whose music was used as the collection's soundtrack.
──What are the key looks (coordinates) for this season?
We focused on a vertical silhouette, keeping wide elements tight while expressing the "looseness" of oversized elements through length. By layering items such as jackets, inner shirts, cutsews, and apron bottoms, we created variations in nuance and style through the visible areas at the hems and cuffs.
Focus on how the original distorted houndstooth pattern appears depending on the item.
──What are the key items and key colors?
Key items include aprons of varying lengths that serve as the axis for layering, and integrated pants that resemble wrapped skirts. Also, hand-knitted grunge-style baby alpaca border knits.
Key colors like navy, beige, burgundy, and khaki are given deeper hues by using heathered yarn that is piece-dyed and overdyed on wool and cutsew fabrics.
──What "materials" did you focus on this season?
The original distorted houndstooth pattern is a pinwheel design where each small pattern resembles a star. For jackets, we used wool; for trench coats and mods coats, light melton; for Chester coats, middle melton; and for duffle coats, heavy melton, with varying thicknesses for each item. The size of the pattern changes with the yarn thickness, so finer yarns create smaller patterns, and thicker yarns create larger patterns, ensuring the pattern appears appropriately for each item.
──What is the rewarding aspect of being a designer?
To express new values that cannot be put into words and to connect with the world through them.
