This season's theme is "Whole lotta Love." We want you to love your clothes, even the inside.
A phrase expressing our passion for making clothes: "With all my heart."
"A photograph by Helmut Newton of Yves Saint Laurent's 1967 gray pinstripe Le Smoking jacket, designed for evening wear, served as inspiration," says designer Hidenori Kumakiri of this season's collection. He further explains the theme "Whole lotta Love" by stating, "We've always paid close attention to the construction of our jackets, but this season we re-examined the entire process from the ground up."

The intricate process and dedication behind each jacket are proportional to our passion.
──What is the theme/concept for the 2013-14 Autumn/Winter collection?
The many steps involved in creating a single jacket, from constructing the internal structure with materials like canvas and shoulder pads to pattern making, reflect our passion. While the inside of a garment is not always apparent once it's finished...──... we chose "Whole lotta Love" as the theme to express this, pouring our passion into the creation of these clothes.
──What were the key points you focused on for this season's lookbook shoot, and what should people pay attention to?
We wanted to feature a model smoking a cigarette in the show, but there are almost no public places where one can smoke nowadays... We searched for a space designed for smoking and found ourselves in a cigar bar, so we decided to present the collection at Maduro in the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. The luxurious atmosphere and the smoky environment, combined with our approach to craftsmanship, resulted in some excellent photographs, I believe.
──What is the key look (outfit) this season?
It's an ecru beige melton Chester coat, expressing the natural aging of ecru wool, paired with an ecru mohair ribbed knit and trousers featuring an edelweiss print on velveteen, inspired by the image of a "flower out of reach." It's a favorite look that fuses masculine and feminine elements.
We want you to feel the "comfort" that is at the core of our material development.
──What are the key items and key colors?
It's the "pink duffle coat." We've taken the duffle coat, a symbol of traditional and basic outerwear, and made it in a striking pink. The pink duffle coat embodies the menswear we aim to create – something traditional and classic, yet with new feminine or kitsch elements that might seem contradictory to tradition and orthodoxy. I believe it has become a symbolic item.
──What "materials" did you focus on this season?
All materials are original. We develop them through new ideas and sometimes circuitous routes, but ultimately aiming for basic materials. When the finished products are seen, they often seem basic and difficult to convey, so people don't always appreciate them (though they are always highly regarded by connoisseurs...). However, the fundamental principle behind our material development is "comfort," so I hope people will try them on and experience that comfort.
──What is the most rewarding aspect of being a designer?
When we create something cool and our customers love it, all our efforts feel worthwhile.
──A message to your fans.
While we are still a relatively unknown brand in menswear, we hone our skills to imbue our clothing with passion and energy, creating "comfortable clothes" every season. Please try them on at least once!
