A Special Small Collection of Jeans, Hoodies, and T-shirts!

Jean Touitou recounts the story behind the completion of the collaboration "A.P.C. KANYE." "About two years ago, I was told that a person named ‘Kenny’ would be visiting the A.P.C. studio. He wanted my advice on the fashion industry, which I thought was a rather vague request. I met this man, Kenny, through a mutual friend. He was very talkative, and I mostly listened, but we had a pleasant time. He was polite and told me about losing his mother to medical malpractice, losing a lover, and how difficult it is to do the right thing in the fashion industry. After a while, I became curious about what this earnest man did for a living. So I asked him, ‘What is your profession?’ He then took off his sunglasses, looked me in the eye, and replied, ‘I’m a hip-hop artist.’"




"My team later told me his name was West, Kanye West. I invited him to the A.P.C. design studio. He kept asking if there was something he could do in the fashion industry. So, at that time, we all advised him to start that ‘something’ in France and to refrain from creating rumors until then. After we became friends, he invited me to a recording studio at the Hotel Meurice. I later learned that this was during the period when he was producing an album titled ‘Watch the Throne’ with Jay-Z. We spent months together. And finally, we arrived at the idea of doing a modest capsule collection together. A capsule collection means a small collection, so it’s just jeans, a hoodie, and a T-shirt."
