Pursuing "Elegant and Playful Men's Fashion"

Monsieur Lacenaire is a men's fashion brand specializing in knitwear, launched in the 2011-12 Autumn/Winter collection by designer Garance Broca, who explores the possibilities of knitwear.

After studying law, she studied at London's Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. During her studies, she interned at Balmain, and upon graduation, joined the company. She then worked for Balmain and Hermès for about seven years, handling knitwear, before deciding to go independent to launch a new line of "elegant and playful men's fashion."

Each season, the witty concepts and visual imagery arecreated by her, a French national, and her partner, Benoîtand the number of buyers who visit the Paris showroom with anticipation is increasing year by year.

The Brand Name Originates from a Villain in "Children of Paradise"

The brand name is derived from "Lacenaire," a villain who appears in the 1945 French film "Children of Paradise." Lacenaire's criminal dandyism serves as inspiration for designer Garance's collections, and this "elegance of the well-dressed criminal" can be seen in the sophisticated choice of craftsmanship and materials. It is also a fateful coincidence that her name, "Garance," is taken from the heroine's name in the film.

Her expertise in knitwear, incorporating complex techniques, is characterized by sophisticated designs. Production is carried out in a factory in Clermont-Ferrand, central France, in discussion with the on-site artisans. Some of these factories also handle products for Hermès.

This season, we should keep an eye on Monsieur Lacenaire's collection, which subtly incorporates "playfulness" into men's chic, offering a sense of freshness within classic style.
