☆AYUITE☆ Autumn/Winter 2013-14 Collection

☆AYUITE☆

Focus on chic coordination unique to the autumn/winter season

The season for sophisticated, adult styling

The brand name “☆AYUITE☆” comes from the Navajo language of the American Indians, meaning “the best, the most wonderful.” Designer Hiroyuki Obara explains the latest collection, which emphasizes original fabric and processing development, with folklore as its basic concept.

Emphasizing masculine styling within a monotone palette

What were the key points you focused on for this season's lookbook shoot, and what should people pay attention to?

As it's the autumn/winter season, we've created chic coordination. Although the styling is casual, we've achieved a modern feel by using a monotone palette. I want people to notice how even casual items are styled in a sophisticated, adult manner.

What is the key look (coordination) for this season?

This season, in particular, I focused on masculine styling within a monotone palette.

A “brown tone” coordination featuring a beige fleece knit, hand-knitted from tape-cut fleece fabric, and double-faced jersey dyed in a gradient from white to beige. This is paired with brown corduroy pants treated for a used look through garment washing.

An “indigo” coordination featuring an indigo down vest made from crazy-cut indigo pre-dyed fabric. This is combined with an indigo border shirt made from crazy-cut nep tweed-like border fabric and herringbone denim, and indigo easy pants made from crazy-cut 10oz denim and hickory denim.

A “monotone” coordination featuring a black stadium jacket made from fabric inspired by Mexican rugs. This is paired with a classic black crew neck waffle jersey and black easy pants that combine fleece and denim.

What are the key items and key colors?

The beige “fleece knit” is hand-knitted from fleece fabric cut into 8mm strips.

The indigo “down vest” is made from crazy-cut indigo pre-dyed fabric, using four types of indigo pre-dyed fabrics and treated for a used look during production.

The black “stadium jacket” uses fabric inspired by Mexican rugs. While Mexican rugs often feature multiple colors or accent colors, we deliberately created this fabric in a monotone design to make it easier to incorporate into outfits.

What is the most rewarding aspect of being a designer?

That's a difficult question...
