“Masterpiece Pairs” Available in Limited Sizes, While Stocks Last

Glimpse the Future of Shoe Design!—"JAPAN Shoe Expo 2015" brings together a collection of special shoes, each a masterpiece born from the creators' passion and overflowing with originality. Approximately 40 pairs from 29 brands will be on display.

The lineup features a stellar cast of Japan's foremost shoe designers, esteemed factory brands, and bespoke specialists, alongside four pairs created by students aspiring to become shoe designers. The sheer variety truly makes this a "grand exhibition" of footwear.

Experience the Power of Japanese Craftsmanship

The "Straight Tip" model from "MIHARAYASUHIRO" is a pair that pursues the high-quality standard envisioned by designer Mihara Yasuhiro. While appearing as a classic straight tip, artisans meticulously hand-cut Italian leather to create a luxurious single-piece upper. The leather, originally a uniform shade, is first stripped of its color by artisans and then re-dyed to appear as if alive. Furthermore, the shoes are finished using a hybrid construction method, combining Norwegian welting at the front with Goodyear welting at the back.

The "KAMAGAYA special" model from "UNION IMPERIAL" intentionally polishes the leather of KUDU, an antelope primarily found in Southern Africa, embracing any damage as part of the material's character. It features an original, highly intricate skin stitch technique called "twist," where two threads are used to cinch the surface of the single leather piece, followed by a second, spiral application of skin stitching.

The "Patchwork Shoes" model from "desartic," a brand known for its knit patchwork, is crafted from various vintage knits. Beneath the knit layers, a metallic fabric is used; as the knit wears away through friction, the metallic fabric is revealed. While the shoe's silhouette is classic, the thick leather sole and pronounced welt add a distinctive character.

The "Hair Calf Combination Loafer" model from "SCOTCH GRAIN" utilizes precious hair calf (foal) leather stored in their material archives. This material was chosen for this occasion, reflecting the brand's commitment to valuing and minimizing waste.

Two pairs are presented by "SALON": Black/Camel and Beige/Ivory. The Black/Camel pair embodies a Bohemian aesthetic, while the Beige/Ivory expresses a Nomad style. Both models feature thick crepe soles with painted welts, lending the shoes a balanced volume and comfortable cushioning.

"JAPAN Shoe Expo 2015" will also feature works from the ambitious emerging designer "makoto taguchi," who focuses on all-handcrafted production, as well as "RENDO," which creates shoe gaiters, and "Yasuseikojo," all of whom will be exhibiting and selling their creations.

"JAPAN Shoe Expo 2015," featuring creations made with 100% of the makers' vision and without any revision requests from Isetan Men's, will be exhibited throughout the Men's Building B1F Men's Dress Shoes section at Isetan Shinjuku Store.
