Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the British Explorer Robert F. Scott's Reaching the South Pole
The Trunk That Reached the South Pole, "EXPEDITION"
Robert F. Scott, the British explorer who reached the South Pole in 1912 (Meiji 45!), carried his luggage on his arduous Antarctic expedition in a Globe-Trotter, a brand born in Britain 15 years earlier (1897). This year, marking the 100th anniversary of humanity's reach to the South Pole, the special model for explorers, the "EXPEDITION" collection, was launched at the end of April.

In 2012, Aiming for the South Pole Again with the British Services Antarctic Expedition (BSAE)
One hundred years have passed since Robert F. Scott reached the South Pole. To commemorate this, the British Services Antarctic Expedition (BSAE) was formed. They departed from Britain in January 2012, following Scott's path while conducting scientific research. The Globe-Trotter model, accompanying the BSAE, described as "modern-day Captain Scott," is released as the "Expedition Collection."
The "Expedition" features the newly developed "RVF (Reinforced Vulcan Fiber)" material, specially engineered for harsh expeditions. This is a truly special model crafted for explorers, capable of withstanding even more demanding use than before. It comes in the iconic British green, accented with brown leather (corners, handle, straps), and includes an official sticker of the BSAE. The color scheme evokes a sense of adventure.
Available in six sizes from 13 inches to 33 inches, prices range from ¥73,500 to ¥204,750. They will be available from the end of April at Vulcanize London in Aoyama, other Vulcanize stores, and the Globe-Trotter Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store and Ginza Mitsukoshi store.
To commemorate the launch of the "Expedition Collection," a one-night-only "Captain Scott Secret Bar" was held on February 22nd. Set in a secret basement with an ice bar and even penguins (!), the exhibition vividly recreated the Antarctic. The new collection was also unveiled.
To Celebrate the Brand's 115th Anniversary, the Production Site is Revealed for the First Time in History!
To mark its 115th anniversary, Globe-Trotter UK has opened its production site to the public for the first time ever, having previously kept it strictly confidential. The YouTube video, "Making of a Suitcase at the Globe-Trotter Factory, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire," showcases the "craftsmanship" that artisans have preserved since the company's inception.
At Globe-Trotter, all stages of travel case production are carried out in their own UK factory, with each piece meticulously crafted using methods virtually unchanged since the company's founding. Utilizing cutting machines and sewing machines from the Victorian era, it takes "10 days, 9 hours, and 35 minutes" to complete a single travel case, a testament to traditional craftsmanship. We invite you to experience the spirit of this process.
