The Reason for Its Enduring Appeal, From Dress to Casual
BOGLIOLI boasts over a century of sartorial history. While many long-established factories tend to lean towards a strictly classic aesthetic, BOGLIOLI distinguishes itself through its fearless embrace of change. This is not mere audacity; it is founded on meticulous calculation, with over a decade spent developing thousands of prototypes to pioneer new directions. Thus, BOGLIOLI's endeavors are not adventures, but evolutions rooted in reality. It is against this backdrop that the brand's signature styles—unstructured tailoring for effortless comfort and garment dyeing for a rich patina—were born. Their current prominence in men's fashion is undeniable. BOGLIOLI's greatest achievement lies in its ability to keep classic style from becoming staid.
Giovanni Mannucci on BOGLIOLI's Value in Japan
We spoke with Giovanni Mannucci, President & CEO of BOGLIOLI, about the brand's value and relationship within the Japanese fashion scene, coinciding with the opening of the Tokyo standalone store.
What is the reason for its popularity in Japan?
Mannucci (M): I believe that around 2000, Japanese consumers began seeking items that express individuality. This can also be seen as men gaining confidence in showcasing their personality. BOGLIOLI proposed an approach to Japanese customers that differed from strict fashion norms. I believe this strategy was successful.
Regarding future marketing in Japan
M: In the past, BOGLIOLI created exclusive fabrics and supplied items tailored to the Japanese market. However, this approach is now outdated. To continue moving forward, I believe it is necessary to present innovative, contemporary collections that embody the brand's signature style, thereby maintaining consistency in its value.
What was the aim behind opening a standalone store in Tokyo?
M: Opening a standalone store in Japan was essential for the brand. The reasons are to provide more personalized service and to gather direct feedback from our customers. Currently, sporty styles are trending, and it is the role of a brand like BOGLIOLI to sense this atmosphere and propose new styles. The first Tokyo store is an excellent opportunity and platform to express this vision.
Please tell us about your future initiatives.
M: We always want to drive and develop new projects and concepts, and over the past two years, we have built a fantastic team to execute them. Following Tokyo, we plan to open a standalone store in New York in 2016. One thing I can say is that our foremost mission is to provide higher quality products by continuing to innovate while cherishing craftsmanship.

This Season's BOGLIOLI: Enjoying Color, Material, and Silhouette
The Autumn/Winter 2015-16 collection is characterized by its use of classic colors like grey and camel as main items, with a compact sizing. Jackets are sharper while maintaining comfort, and trousers feature a tapered silhouette with ample room, creating a new sense of balance. The basic color palette is enhanced with accent colors such as orange and blue, evoking the subtle elegance enjoyed by Milanese bourgeoisie in the 60s and 70s. Items for both dress and casual wear are abundant, offering refined yet relaxed styling.
Exclusive Items for DRESS STYLE
BOGLIOLI has significantly influenced the transformation of dress style, which was once bound by strict rules. Models like "Dover," "York," and "Eton" have become staples of the new business style, demonstrating their impact. With the addition of "New Dover," men's dress style is set to expand further.

A "New Dover" Suit
in Kasuri Check
The check pattern on the navy fabric has a subtle texture reminiscent of Japanese kasuri weaving. This "New Dover" suit, crafted from a vintage-like fabric with a larger lapel for elegance, features a short length and compact silhouette, yet its increased range of motion enhances wearability.

A Cashmere-Blend Jacket
with Playful Color Accents
This garment-dyed, cashmere-blend jacket is exclusive to the standalone store and offers a light, cardigan-like feel. The落ち着きのある green fabric features a basket-weave pattern, adding depth to your look. Pair it with a black turtleneck and navy tapered trousers for a sophisticated urban color combination.

A Basic Yet Modern
Jacket and Trousers Style
The brown check jacket, exclusive to the standalone store, is a "New Dover." This look coordinates it with a tone-on-tone ensemble of a knit vest, tie, and trousers. While the color palette exudes classic charm, the sizing and design lend a contemporary impression suitable for business.
Exclusive Items for CASUAL STYLE
BOGLIOLI's casual offerings embody the chic, sporty, and relaxed nuances appropriate for the current era. Combining these elements creates outfits that are comfortable and easy to wear, yet maintain a sharp silhouette thanks to masterful tailoring. Here, we present stylish casual wear for the discerning adult.

Instead of a Jacket,
Embrace a Lightweight Coat
This lightweight, khaki coat, exclusive to the standalone store and made primarily of cotton, is perfect to wear in place of a jacket from early autumn. Adding colors like blue and navy creates a modern, playful coordination. This combination, which balances the ruggedness of khaki with color, serves as inspiration for this season's casual looks.

This Season's Brown Accent
Comes in Vermilion Knitwear
The vermilion knitwear used as a brown accent in the look comes in two styles exclusive to the standalone store: a versatile turtleneck and a sporty polo collar.

The Limited Edition Leather Blouson
Boasts Captivating Nuanced Hues
This sporty leather blouson with a ribbed collar, in a subtly uneven grey finish, is a key item that adds rich expression to your outfit. Pair it with wide-wale corduroy trousers for a touch of country style, and a brown stole with needle-punched jacket motifs for a chic weekend look.
