Dynamic Prints Featuring His Works
"Code Unknown" is a series of works by Soshi Fujiwara, an homage to Michael Haneke (Austrian film director and screenwriter), where he aimed for an exquisite line that makes individuals unidentifiable during shooting and editing. ISSEY MIYAKE MEN has taken three of these works as inspiration and dynamically printed them onto shirts, T-shirts, and bags.
Furthermore, at Hankyu Men's Osaka, three new pieces from Fujiwara's works will be added from Saturday, August 29th, with original products exclusive to this store.
Don't Miss the Special Exhibition "Code Unknown"
Photographer Soshi Fujiwara was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1984. After graduating from the Faculty of Art and Design at Osaka University of Arts, he worked as a graphic designer in Tokyo before moving his base to Berlin in 2012 to begin his career as a photographer. He received the Japan Photo Award 2014 last year.
To commemorate the release of the "Code Unknown" series, a special exhibition titled "Code Unknown" will be held at ELTTOB TEP ISSEY MIYAKE / GINZA in Ginza, Tokyo, from Thursday, July 2nd.
During the collaboration process with ISSEY MIYAKE MEN, Fujiwara was reminded of the dangers of photography as a medium, which can infringe on portrait rights without permission, or even without the subject's awareness. He also recognized the potential of photography as a medium that can overcome these issues through shooting methods and digital image processing.
For this special exhibition, as one of its symbols, he chose the expression of digitally replicating portraits that have been image-processed to make them difficult to identify. By flooding the space with these, he aims to recreate the chaotic atmosphere he felt in Berlin, the location of his shoots.
