The 6-inch Moc boasts high-quality leather, exceptional durability, lightness, cushioning, and a sole with excellent arch support. This model was strongly supported as a versatile work boot, gracing the final scenes of American industrialization at its peak.

The leather used for this 6-inch Moc, known as "MOHAVE," is waterproof leather tanned by a Red Wing subsidiary tannery, primarily supplied to the military. While MOHAVE LEATHER comes in several color variations, the "SAGE" color was developed to match the uniforms of the U.S. Air Force, to whom it is mainly supplied.

Using the finest part of cowhide, from the back to the side of the animal, this leather is made waterproof through a special tanning process (a 13-hour waterproofing process!). By minimizing water absorption, it not only prevents water from penetrating the shoe but also ensures the boots don't become heavy and waterlogged even when used for extended periods in wet conditions. The high breathability also allows heat from inside the shoe to escape easily.

The "rough out" finish, where the leather is turned inside out with the grain side intact, is also a method that helps maintain waterproofing during long wear. Mohave leather is popular for its heavy-duty applications.
