UNITED ARROWS & SONS
A desire to create the ultimate store has grown stronger.
Motohiro Kogi on the Trends in Men's Fashion (3)
Motohiro “Poggy” Kogi leads “UNITED ARROWS & SONS.” Starting this autumn, the brand will narrow its selection to a more focused range, while simultaneously strengthening its original lines like “POGGYTHEMAN.” They are also increasing items that utilize Japanese craftsmanship and techniques.

The Origins of UNITED ARROWS and His Own Identity
――How do you feel about directing UNITED ARROWS & SONS?
Well, UNITED ARROWS & SONS aims to establish the “luxury street” movement. From this autumn season, we are narrowing down our selection of brands, and from next spring, we plan to reintroduce a strong focus on suits and jackets.
――What is the reason behind that direction?
I’ve observed many excellent shops around the world, and while I admired them, a stronger desire to create a store that is second to none has emerged. Trends are important, of course, but just as UNITED ARROWS created timeless pieces around the time of its founding in the '90s, I want to convey a clear message. Looking at our “District” line, the brand selection and curation offer valuable lessons.
――How will it change?
Simply put, it will be a store that mixes the current street sensibility with the traditional and classic elements that UNITED ARROWS has always valued. The challenge is immense, but it’s the only path forward.
A Sense of Enjoying Fashion Comes Through
――You connect with fans worldwide through Instagram, don't you?
I’ve discussed Instagram with Hirofumi Kurino as well. I believe street photographers capture me because it conveys a sense of enjoyment in fashion. If that resonates with people, I am truly happy.
――Do you also interact with fashion figures of your generation?
Actually, there was a time when I avoided interacting with peers. But as we've all gained various experiences in society, meeting people of the same age again, I realized we were only having forward-looking conversations. It struck me, 'Ah, this is the time to work with people who share a similar sensibility.'
I believe we must find companions with whom we can sharpen our senses and build momentum together. This is something Hiroshi Fujiwara and NIGO® have also done, so I want to give it my best effort.
