PARMENTIER: New Arrivals for its Second Season

Spring/Summer New Arrivals: An Homage to Parisian Men

PARMENTIER is a premium brand co-produced by fashion director Norio Osumi and model Rihito. Following last autumn/winter, this season's new collection is inspired by the men of Cap Martin, a place known for the holiday cabin of modernist architecture master Le Corbusier.

A Spring/Summer Wardrobe of Timeless Beauty

PARMENTIER is a co-production between Norio Osumi, director of EDIFICE's web magazine "Élément" (http://edifice.baycrews.co.jp/element/), and Rihito. At the core of their wardrobe lies a classic-modern style, infused with elements sought after in adult men: contemporary sophistication, intelligence, maturity, and restraint.

This season, the signature silver potato flower boutonnière remains, alongside a collection of urban and light items. Norio Osumi explains the inspiration and seasonal theme as follows:

The Everyday Wear of the Men of Cap Martin

“A friend, an architect, told me he was commissioned by a Monaco aristocrat to design a private gallery. This place is an affluent residential area, about a 15-minute drive from Monaco, with no shops or restaurants. The residences and villas are perched on cliffs over 200 meters high. It's a famous location, home to the holiday cabin (Le Cabanon) of Le Corbusier, one of the 20th century's greatest masters, who was also an architect, painter, and writer.”

The summer residence the master designed for himself was a mere 3.66 meters square – the epitome of minimalism, true to his advocacy of modernist architecture. The gallery, intended solely for displaying the aristocrat's artworks, was adjacent to the small cabin and reportedly ten times its size. The land value in Cap Martin was high in the 1950s when the master built his cabin, and it remains so today, as it was even before then.

Crafted from Linen and Cotton for a Cool, Elegant Design

There are also stories suggesting the master may have wanted to build a larger house but was constrained by financial issues. It doesn't seem to have been an experiment in minimal living either. This, too, I heard from my friend. Nevertheless, from his small cabin, the master designed iconic works such as the Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp, the High Court of Justice in Chandigarh, and the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo. Perhaps Cap Martin not only offers scenic beauty but also possesses a positive energy.

And so, the Spring/Summer 2015 "PARMENTIER" collection is inspired by the residents of Cap Martin. We considered their everyday attire. Using linen and cotton as primary materials, we finished the garments with single-layer construction, French seams, and bound seams. A soft and light wardrobe. For the sophisticated man who aspires to an artistic life.

Born from this background, the new collection features items such as a navy jacket with an integrated geometric pattern, shorts with side adjusters, and slim pants in a linen blend. Capturing the subtle shifts of the times with delicate precision, these pieces are imbued with modern essence and timeless beauty. PARMENTIER's spring/summer new arrivals offer a lineup brimming with French dandyism, exuding a relaxed yet refined demeanor.
