Horween, a prestigious American tannery, has revived the traditional techniques for cordovan (horsehide). This leather is characterized by its robustness yet softness, and the raw hides are becoming increasingly rare each year.

Among the dyeing variations for Horween's shell cordovan—named for its shell-like hardness and beauty—"WHISKY" is the lightest shade. This is that color.

While Alden's dark brown shades like "Ravello" and "Cigar" are also well-known, the "Whisky" color is even lighter than Ravello. This makes it more susceptible to showing imperfections in the raw hide, thus requiring exceptionally flawless hides for its production, making it a highly rare color.

Horween's leather is produced under strict standards, and in recent years, production volume has drastically decreased. Consequently, the chukka boots that BARNEYS NEW YORK finally received after years of waiting are truly a gem that arrives when you least expect it.
