The Thermo Suit for "Comfort Biz"

"Our Marunouchi store is the place where you can find the full lineup of green label relaxing suits. We get a lot of detailed requests for designs, sizes, and alterations, and many customers want to wear suits that reflect their personal taste. It’s enjoyable to serve them, and I get great inspiration," says Yuki Ueno, 29, in his seventh year with the company. This season, green label relaxing is proposing styling based on the theme of “Comfort Biz,” with its own unique items.

If You're Not Wearing Outerwear, Warm Up Your Suit

On crowded commuter trains, thick clothing can make you sweat, but step outside and the sudden chill can feel like you're catching a cold. Many businessmen, especially in Tokyo, have likely experienced this.

"We started with the idea, 'Can we create a comfortable suit that adjusts to temperature differences?' and last year, we launched the Thermo Suit, which provides warmth. It was a great success last year, and this year we've further developed it to be temperature-regulating. At green label relaxing, we call this 'Comfort Biz' and always propose styles that allow you to stay comfortable," says Ueno.

The secret to this temperature regulation lies in a special material called OUTLAST®, developed for NASA. Microcapsules coated onto the fabric absorb heat when it's hot and humid, keeping the interior of the garment at a comfortable temperature. When it's cold, they release stored heat to keep you warm, a unique temperature-regulating feature.

Ueno himself wore the suit and walked around the Marunouchi area, remarking, "I felt the warmth from being indoors lasted longer than with a regular suit." He confidently states that this suit allows for comfortable travel in winter, with just a coat over the suit, without the need for a vest or cardigan. "It's the perfect suit for those who want a sleek look in winter without feeling bulky."

This Thermo Suit comes in four patterns, each with two colors, and features a classic single-breasted, two-button silhouette. While the overall shape is conventional, the jacket length and the tapered fit of the trousers allow for a sporty styling, which is a welcome touch. Business-appropriate check and stripe patterns are also available.

Ueno shares, "Personally, I like styles that incorporate seasonal elements into simple outfits, so I prefer suits with textured, brushed fabrics. I also tend to wear wool ties." He pays close attention to the styling choices of Hirofumi Kurino, advisor to United Arrows, and checks his selections and how he puts outfits together.
