OLD JOE | 2014-15 Autumn/Winter Collection
OLD JOE
Aiming to create products that are perfected through the passage of time.
Respect for heritage and evolution, fidelity and originality.
“Tweed with deep wrinkles that show a rich expression, denim that reveals vivid shades as it is worn, leather goods that gain brilliance with use… these are the products we aim for, loved over many years,” says the OLD JOE Design Team. “OLD JOE” pursues the possibilities of contemporary “gents clothing” while paying homage to Japan’s artisans, renowned for having the world’s best techniques.

Creating Products Perfected by the Passage of Time
—What is the theme/concept for the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection?
There is no collection theme. The concept for producing our products is always “respect for heritage and evolution, fidelity and originality.” We aim to create products that are perfected through the passage of time.
—What points did you focus on for this season's look shoot, and what should people pay attention to?
We placed great emphasis on the materials, so we shot the photos in a way that conveys their texture.
—What are the differences in styling, silhouette, and color compared to last year's Autumn/Winter collection?
Fabrics created from scratch, closer to the actual production site.
—What is the key look (coordination) for this season?
An earth-toned country style. A mix of mohair wool, deerskin, and rubberized cloth.
Focus on the Overcoat with its Elegant and Formal Impression
—What are the key items and key colors?
The key item is an overcoat made from 100% wool Japanese melton. We faithfully recreated the fabric of a 1910s naval overcoat, making it more comfortable. Designed and constructed with original buttons, interlinings, and padding, it possesses an elegant and formal impression.
—What “materials” did you focus on this season?
Deerskin, produced with our unique recipe through multiple processes and handwork.
—What “things, people, or items” are you currently paying attention to in the fashion scene?
Japanese antiques, industrial products and folk crafts from the early to mid-20th century, European designer architecture and products, and spaces and lifestyles where modern and industrial elements coexist. And the various products born from inspiration drawn from these.
