――What is the theme/concept for the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection?

The theme for the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter season is SNOW RIDER. After finishing a chilly, early morning surf session, a man emerges from the sea and looks up to see snow-capped mountains rising behind his home. Inspired by the beautiful scenery, he throws on a coat over his wetsuit, grabs his surfboard, and heads to the mountains by train.
Changing from his wetsuit to skiwear, he becomes a snow rider, seeking speed. He plunges into fresh powder on classic vintage skis. Playing with nature is always fun. After such an impromptu day in the mountains, the man returns to the sea.
From this story, the design keywords for this collection are sea, mountains, and snow, while lightness and volume are the textile keywords.

――What were the key points and what should we pay attention to in this season's lookbook shoot?

For our first-ever snow mountain location shoot, the photographer skied while shooting to capture a sense of dynamism and speed, making it a challenging shoot. Our initial concept was to make the vibrant colors pop against the white snow, but due to a blizzard, we had to adapt and shoot flexibly.
We aim to portray a fresh take on retro imagery, like skiing in sweaters, surfing in thick knits, and warming up by a bonfire immediately after coming out of the sea.



――What are the differences in styling, silhouette, and color compared to last year's Autumn/Winter collection?

We've enhanced material construction, focusing on "light and warm" from the yarn stage. The styling includes pairing wetsuits with coats, and we've expressed beautiful colors through prints and jacquard weaves on classical silhouettes.


――What is the key look (coordination) for this season?

The look shown in the top photo, featuring a wetsuit with a double-weave coat, while holding a surfboard. The coat is made of a wool-hemp blend on the outside and boa on the inside.

Wool Fleece: Successfully Achieving "Light and Warm"

――What are the key items and key colors?

The key item is the yarn-dyed knit shown in the top right photo, with a double jacquard pattern. The key colors are shades of blue, reminiscent of the sea, with the addition of various tones of red this season to represent warmth and coolness.


――What "materials" did you focus on this season?

We developed a wool fleece. While polyester fleece is used for prints, this wool fleece successfully achieves the "light and warm" quality. It's a material woven with three colors of yarn and then napped to create a melange appearance.
