The second autumn/winter season, with gradual refinements to the brand concept.
Expressing the brand's vision of masculinity through new set-up styles.
This is the second autumn/winter season for the brand "salvy;", which debuted last year and is now celebrating its first anniversary. The brand's theme is the pursuit of what can only be expressed by Japanese people, rooted in traditional techniques and culture. Hiromichi Go, a designer with experience at international brands both in Japan and abroad, has teamed up with a major domestic factory that produces for various brands to offer high-quality products backed by Japanese manufacturing prowess.

Exploring and creating the atmosphere of the moment.
—What is the theme/concept for the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection?
While we haven't set a specific theme for the season, we consistently develop collections that pursue our brand concept: 'what can only be expressed by Japanese people, rooted in traditional techniques and culture.'
—What were your priorities for this season's lookbook shoot, and what should people pay attention to?
We start with fabric development every season. For this season, we focused on the nuances of light and angles to express the inherent allure of the textiles, woven from premium raw materials.
—How does this season differ from last autumn/winter in terms of styling, silhouette, and color?
We've made gradual improvements across the board, centered on our brand concept. For styling, we're introducing a new set-up approach to express the brand's masculine ideal. Furthermore, the silhouettes, which seem to capture air through unique pattern construction, and the natural volume created by the fine fabrics, offer a new sensation of comfort as they conform to the body when worn.
—What are the key looks (outfits) for this season?
First, the random chalk stripe set-up look. We've used an original random chalk stripe fabric, woven from premium materials, and proposed a set-up with a shirt style to enhance its smooth texture and luster. Unlike a jacket and trousers combination, this offers a slightly playful, mature style.
Another key look is the cavalry twill hooded coat. To create a relaxed, natural look overall, we've used a pattern construction with dropped armholes for this overcoat. The baker pants, made from triple-weave oxford, incorporate air between the threads during weaving, creating a natural stretch effect that makes the style surprisingly stress-free.
Jackets and trousers born from fabric, designed to be worn and cherished.
—What are the key items and key colors?
The key item is the Bizen No. 1 Twill navy set-up. We propose this high-density twill every season; it's woven to the absolute limit of density, then finished with a light brushing for a smooth texture. The fabric remains robust even after a year of wear, designed to be worn and cherished for about two to three years. This season, we're offering our classic set-up style in new navy and khaki colors.
Another is the Tasmanian fleece crewneck jacket. This knit fleece is made from high-quality Tasmanian wool, slowly knitted in a circular weave. Through repeated brushing and felting processes, we've achieved a warm and soft texture. The use of triple-needle stitching throughout makes the stitchwork a design highlight. The crewneck, designed not to interfere with collars of inner or outer layers, is ideal for layering. Alongside charcoal, royal blue and green are the key colors for this season.
—What "materials" did you focus on this season?
While I'd like to say 'all the materials we focused on,' the random check pattern required considerable time and meticulous attention to detail, from the pattern design to the yarn selection. We used worsted merino wool for the base yarn, randomly combining check patterns (herringbone, right-hand twill, left-hand twill). The blue lines are made with cotton ikat-dyed yarn. This is a meticulously crafted material where the unique texture of ikat, with its visible and hidden lines, is integrated into the check pattern.
