Alexa Chung on Longchamp's Autumn Campaign
Alexa Chung, the campaign model, and Sophie Delafontaine, Artistic Director and member of the founding family of Longchamp, visited Japan for the presentation of the 2015 Autumn/Winter collection. A press conference was held regarding the current campaign, the fourth season featuring Alexa.

The Happy Partnership of Longchamp and Alexa
The bag Alexa is holding in the autumn campaign is the Le Pliage® Héritage Mini. This season, Longchamp introduces a mini size and an envelope shoulder bag to its iconic bag line. With its bold tricolor accents, it's the quintessential piece for this season. The campaign visuals, shot in Miami, showcase a beautiful contrast with the colorful art in the background.
"Working with Longchamp has allowed me to travel to many places. We've had shoots in Saint-Tropez, Paris, and Miami. The crew, including the photographer and stylist, are always the same, so it feels like family. This time, the trailer was like a disco, sparkling and blasting music, and we all had a great time – that's my fondest memory," Alexa shares.
"Alexa was always professional during the shoots. Even in 35-degree heat, wearing leather pants and jackets – it must have been incredibly tough," responds Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp's Artistic Director.
Alexa's rapport with Longchamp, now in its fourth season, is so strong that she jokingly says, "It's like marriage. I don't want a divorce anytime soon."
The collaboration began two years ago when Alexa DJed at the opening event for the Longchamp store in London.
"I DJed with Pixie Geldof, and it was a really fun night. Many luxury brand parties can be quite formal, but Longchamp was different – they were so friendly and cool, saying 'Bring all your friends and have a good time,' which left a strong impression," Alexa recalls.
Sophie Delafontaine was captivated by Alexa's vibrant beauty when she saw her at the party and immediately arranged to meet her the next day.
"I felt Alexa was a perfect fit for Longchamp's vision of 'Optimistic Luxury.' I was drawn to her unpretentious, natural demeanor, her intelligence, and her lively spirit. It feels a bit strange talking to her like this (laughs)."
Coordinating with the Striking Tricolor Bag
In Autumn 2015, the Le Pliage® Héritage, Longchamp's iconic bag, will be expanded to include a mini size and an envelope shoulder bag.
Alexa is known for always carrying a small bag, so we asked her about its appeal.
"I think the paparazzi are responsible for the perception that I always carry small bags. I do own larger ones, though. It's true I have many small bags, but I like to go out light, carrying just my bank cards, lipstick, smartphone, and keys."
"The new mini size and envelope shoulder bag from Le Pliage® Héritage are perfect for my outings. I especially love this combination of cobalt blue, midnight blue, and cherry red. It has a French feel, don't you think? And perhaps a touch of Japanese influence too?"
"My personal style usually centers around basic colors like gray, black, and navy, so I often use colorful accessories like this to add a playful touch to my outfits."
Alexa Also Eyes Ready-to-Wear
As a renowned fashion icon, Alexa's own fashion on the day of the press conference was also a highlight. Indeed, many fashion magazines and television crews were present.
"I loved this Longchamp bomber jacket from the campaign shoot, so they gave it to me. I like the simple monochrome design; it's not too casual, is it?"
Longchamp has also been presenting ready-to-wear collections for some time now. While the lookbooks are not extensive each season, the high-quality items have generated buzz among fashion insiders. This autumn, attention should be paid not only to the new bags but also to the ready-to-wear line.
