2009-10 Autumn/Winter Collection "CICATA": Licht Interview

In the 17th and 18th centuries, it was commonplace for the affluent to embark on a European journey, known as the Grand Tour, to deepen their understanding of Greek and Roman culture.
The 2009-10 Autumn/Winter collection "CICATA" draws inspiration from these luxurious travels. We spoke with designer Licht.

An "Educational Journey" Beyond Today's Imagination

This collection is themed around Oscar Wilde. As I delved into his biography, I learned about the Grand Tour, which was akin to a school trip in Japan.

It seems that during their holidays, the children of wealthy aristocrats would travel with their attendants and tutors, ostensibly for study and cultural exchange in places like Paris and Rome. Oscar Wilde also undertook a similar journey, though it's recorded that he had to abandon it due to a lack of funds.

I created this collection inspired by such elegant European journeys.

We're Confident in Our Silhouettes

Does this season feel a bit more mature than usual?

I kept that in mind when assembling this season's pieces.

In terms of color, we've focused on brown, using warm flannel materials. We put a lot of thought into the construction so that each piece would look good regardless of how it was combined.

An item I'd like you to pay attention to is the cape, which has a voluminous feel despite its sharp material. Styling with a cape evokes a sense of nostalgia while feeling incredibly fresh.

We're confident in our silhouettes, so please try on various pieces.
