Find Your Best Buy: The Perfect Pair of Glasses!

Ebisu Continuer Edition

Following up on our previous BEST BUY feature on sunglasses, we continue our search for the perfect glasses by showcasing selections from Continuer's customers in Ebisu. Glasses offer an even wider array of designs, colors, and materials than sunglasses. A key factor in choosing them is 'how far can I play with my existing image?' With a second or third pair of everyday glasses, you can likely showcase a new side of yourself. As a new season arrives, why not find a stylish new pair of glasses?

Ryuji Sue (Photographer)

His current glasses, a black-rimmed pair from YELLOWS PLUS, were purchased at Continuer three months ago. He deliberated between these and the Orgreen model featured below before making his choice. "A friend bought glasses at Continuer, and I liked what I saw, which led me to come in to look for glasses myself. The selection here feels both timeless and on-trend, and the staff are so stylish that I felt confident taking their advice."

A style I wouldn't normally choose. Perfect for an intellectual look.

Orgreen's popular models feature simple designs and casual colorways. This particular model draws inspiration from fighter jets that were active in Europe. Its distinctive active design features a three-dimensional temple with cut-outs that add a sense of movement. The contrast between black and white gives depth to the flat front.

Orgreen ¥43,050

These glasses look undeniably serious. The choice for those seeking pure basics.

The classic 'browline' style. The acetate material used is 'celluloid,' which is resistant to warping and twisting. The metal color is intentionally finished with a matte texture to enhance its classic feel. This is an exclusive model made for Continuer.

YELLOWS PLUS ¥29,400

The lightness is its main appeal. A design that conveys a refreshing impression.

A product embodying German precision, crafted from stainless steel sheet without any screws. The classic Wellington shape is expressed using the modern material of stainless steel. The extremely thin rims achieve a lightness that makes you forget you're wearing them. Yet, their presence, unimaginable from their slender lines, is a testament to maximizing the material's strengths.

MYKITA ¥49,980

A silhouette that expresses the current mood and feels calming to wear.

This model was worn by Michael Caine, famously pictured with a cigarette in his mouth in the 1969 photography book 'GOODBYE BABY & AMEN' by David Bailey. The Wellington, characterized by its slightly vertical square shape, has evolved from a trend to a classic. These are a size larger than the Wellington glasses Ryuji Sue is currently wearing. When coordinating with slim-fitting attire, a slightly oversized frame like this could add a dynamic contrast.

Oliver Goldsmith ¥27,300

Eri Kitayama (Designer)

Active as a designer, handling branding, product planning, and graphics with versatility. She has purchased two pairs of glasses from Continuer before. As she doesn't typically wear sunglasses, this was her first challenge in that category. "Continuer's selection of glasses is sophisticated, with basic colors and playful designs. I come here when I want something with a bit of flair." Her current glasses, a black-rimmed pair from VICTOR & ROLF, were purchased two months ago. Their classic yet impactful square shape is perfectly balanced. She was torn between these and the black frame from Arumamika featured below.

BEST BUY! The balance of pattern and shape is superb. I want a pair like this too!

A cat-eye style, gaining attention this year. The slightly upturned top line is beautifully balanced by the gently sloping lens shape, making them easy to wear. Although they are a simple black, the clear accents at the temple's base and tips add a playful touch to the chic design. Black glasses often make the strongest impression, but with Kitayama's striking eyes, these frames enhance her gaze even further.

Arumamika ¥25,200

The sharp design and stylish coloring are characteristic of Scandinavian design.

The volume, unusual for a metal frame, is achieved through laser-cutting titanium plates, allowing for greater variation in the frame's expression. By using different colors on the front and back, depth is added to the pure titanium frame, which is thinner than acetate frames. This results in a sophisticated finish.

Orgreen ¥43,050

A charmingly classic round shape with a feminine touch. For when you want to wear something playful...

A Boston shape reminiscent of the 80s. The slightly relaxed size feels very current. While the lens shape is soft, the sharp line of the brow bar unifies the design. The reddish acetate is beautiful. We recommend pairing these slightly oversized glasses with crisp, tailored clothing.

Arumamika ¥25,200

A design that sharpens the expression, combined with attractive, not-too-sweet two-tone coloring.

Selima's popular candy colors are a hit. While employing classic techniques (varying the colors of the front and temples), the pop color palette offers a modern twist. Despite the substantial material, the clear laminate finish creates a sense of lightness. Furthermore, the brown and yellow-green laminate ensures a great fit against the skin, making these very feminine frames. The slightly upswept square shape, leaning towards a cat-eye, captures the current mood.

Ryōhei Kanjima (Continuer)

"Ryuji Sue has distinct facial features, with slightly rounded cheeks but a sharp jawline, giving him a somewhat long, square face. For glasses that suit his features, frames with vertical depth or sunglasses would create a good balance on his face. If the vertical width is too narrow, the distance from the frame to his chin can become pronounced, disrupting the balance."

"Most of the glasses chosen today have good vertical depth, so I was impressed by how intuitively he understood this. To add to that, frames where the temples attach at the center rather than the top can create a better balance, as it reduces the distance from the temple's base to below the jaw. Considering his current black Wellington glasses, the Oliver Goldsmith clear-colored frame would be a recommended Best Buy. He also managed to wear frames with overwhelming volume with great success."
