Facetasm: Crafting Style Through Deliberate Imbalance

Facetasm, a popular brand from Tokyo Fashion Week, has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2016 womenswear collection. The designer is Hiromi Ochiai. This June, he was selected as a guest designer by Armani to present his menswear collection in Milan. Now, he is looking towards a Paris debut. This marks his final collection in Tokyo for the season.

Though a compact collection of just 28 womenswear looks, its energy was immense! Featuring ribbons tied and untied, the collection masterfully blends both high fashion and street style. Oversized blousons are paired with cropped trousers, and peplum jackets with A-line pants. Details like ruffles and stripes are skillfully incorporated, creating looks that are stylish precisely because they play with balance. Yet, the craftsmanship is exceptionally refined. The brand opened a shop in Harajuku in October and plans to open two more stores in the spring. This is a brand to watch.

Toga Makes its Debut in London

Toga, designed by Yasuko Furuta, has made its London Fashion Week debut. "London feels more suited to me than Paris," Furuta commented. The collection, with its hints of punk sensibility, featured dresses that combined sheer tulle and lace with patchwork elements. A sense of sweet romanticism permeated the looks, underscored by a feeling of strength. The shoe collection, produced in Spain, is also substantial, and a handbag collection is set to launch.
