We turn our attention to a unique notebook launched this autumn by Craft Design Technology, which promotes Japanese stationery to the world.
First and foremost, its new horizontal form is striking. In today's world where many work in front of computers, it was born as a horizontal desk notebook with an exquisite size that fits neatly before your PC.
Available in two sizes, tailored for common 13- and 15-inch laptops, it can be used vertically or horizontally, allowing for space-saving placement.
The 13-inch width notebook includes perforations, making it useful for casual notes. The 15-inch width version comes with an optional dedicated notebook band, designed for convenient portability.
The body colors adopt three traditional Japanese colors: Pale Green, Gray, and Dark Gray.
The cover and inner pages are made of "bagasse paper," which incorporates bagasse pulp derived from sugarcane residue. Bagasse is a byproduct of sugar production, and by using this surplus material, which would otherwise be discarded, as a paper source, this desk notebook contributes to the utilization of unused resources and waste recycling.
By using bagasse as a paper raw material, the amount of wood used is reduced, and the energy required for felling, harvesting, collection, and transportation is also lessened. This is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions, making it a material that contributes to environmental conservation.
The manufacturer is Daigo Co., Ltd., established in 1944, which has handled various paper products, primarily diaries and planners. This unprecedented desk notebook is born from a production background boasting ease of use, durability, and advanced binding technology.
