Nicetime Mountain Gallery, located in Hatagaya, Tokyo, shares the allure of the outdoors. It has garnered attention for its curated events and its selection of goods that excel in both functionality and design.
The shop now presents the "NMG 001 Nata," a traditional Japanese tool that has evolved to suit the needs of those who work in forests and mountains.
The development was a collaboration with Wataru Kumano, a designer involved in various projects both domestically and internationally. Learning from the forms cultivated through long tradition, the "NMG 001 Nata" was born, embodying a simple aesthetic where function dictates form, suited for contemporary needs.
The grip is made of silicone rubber, designed for comfort and shock absorption when splitting wood. The double-edged blade, suitable for chopping wood, features a gentle 4.7-degree angle towards the tip, ensuring it strikes wood at the optimal angle.
The interior of the grip is hollowed out for lightness, and the weight is concentrated at the blade's tip, creating a structure that is easier to swing. The blade, made from 6mm stainless steel, ensures ample strength, while a blast finish reduces corrosion.
Its minimal form, shaped by the pursuit of function, and its understated presence exude the appeal of a well-crafted tool.
