Appreciating the Beauty of Crystal Glass Born from Craftsmanship
A glass workshop established in 1856 in a secluded valley surrounded by forests in the Northern Vosges region of France. In 1767, it was granted the title of "Saint-Louis Royal Glassworks" by Louis XV. Fifteen years later, it succeeded in producing crystal for the first time in France.
Renamed the "Saint-Louis Royal Crystalworks," the workshop specialized in crystal manufacturing and became a symbol of French art de vivre (the art of living). Nearly 450 years since its founding, all Saint Louis crystal products are still made in the workshop in the village of Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche.
Glassblowers magically shape glasses and vases. Cutters then adorn these formed crystals with beautiful motifs, and only those that pass rigorous product checks are released to the world as Saint Louis products.
In Japan, products have previously been available at eight retail locations, including Hermès stores and corners within Isetan Shinjuku Main Store. The new Azabudai Hills store is the second flagship store in Asia, following Hong Kong, and serves as the sole standalone store in Japan to showcase the world of Saint Louis.
Inside the store, a diverse collection of Saint Louis pieces is on display, including iconic chandeliers, lighting, furniture, interior objects, and tableware.
Beyond savoir-faire paperweights and colored crystal glasses, the store also features innovative products that challenge conventional values, such as contemporary designs by creators like Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance and Kiki van Eijk, and the Apollo tea set that blends ceramic and crystal.
Azabudai Hills, with its abundant greenery despite its central location, provides an ideal setting to enjoy Saint Louis crystals crafted by artisans in a secluded village. We encourage you to experience the artisans' handiwork up close.
