Strength and Suppleness. Aiming for Vessels Like a Sculptor's Work
Makiko Doi, the creative force behind the design label "MISHIM," has launched a new brand. Its concept is to "establish an imaginary figure of a female sculptor, Gena Kwan, and translate the stories born in her atelier into products." What kind of products have emerged from this innovative idea?

'gena kuwan' presents products derived from the image of a female sculptor who possesses a sophisticated and avant-garde sensibility, yet cherishes things that change over time, things that embody history and memory, and who is unafraid to be alone in the ruggedness of nature.
The brand's inaugural collection features tableware with captivating organic marble patterns. Production is handled by Nankei Seitoen in Mie Prefecture, known as a center for Banko ware.
The lineup includes two types of cups, a larger plate L suitable for a variety of dishes, a plate S that can also serve as a saucer for the cups, a fruit bowl usable for soups or cereals, a teapot, and a small flower vase.
Both are notable for their user-friendly sizes and surprisingly lightweight feel. They are available in two marble patterns: one based on black and the other on white.
We look forward to seeing what further outputs will emerge through the persona of "Gena Kwan" in the future.
