Nanoparticles Generate Silver Ions for Antibacterial Power
As coronavirus infections spread worldwide, YTS has introduced a washable, antibacterial mask. What is the "7 Billion Masks" that carries the wish, "May peace of mind reach people all over the world"?
Text by Satsuki Wakabayashi
What exactly is the "7 Billion Masks," a sustainable, washable mask?
First, we should focus on its antibacterial properties through silver ions. By finely coating the fibers with approximately 10nm (nanometer) nanoparticles (antibacterial agent name: Sarex Sarabroom SL), the nanoparticles generate silver ions, thereby exhibiting antibacterial effects.
The particles adhere to the threads themselves, creating a coating that is resistant to washing off. The antibacterial effect lasts for 30 washes.
The secure three-layer structure features inner layers made of high-density, soft-touch cotton with nano-coating, while the outer layer is made of antibacterial and water-resistant polyester to protect against droplets and dust.
As the name suggests, we can only hope it reaches as many people as possible.
