A Collection of Meticulously Designed Products

The lifestyle brand "Scenery at 70cm" proposes new spatial experiences through designs centered on the concept of "products that touch the heart."
Even in an era where chairs and sofas are central to our lives, the Japanese comfort of sitting on the floor or lounging on tatami mats is still cherished. The brand name, "70cm," derives from the eye-level height when sitting on the floor.
This height represents the gaze when one's mind is at ease, and also signifies the distance between close individuals.
Launched concurrently with the brand's debut are three products designed by emerging creators. Each piece reflects contemporary lifestyles through the unique perspectives of its designers.
"Toki o Ikeru" (Living Time) is a wall-mounted vase for displaying favorite plants. In traditional Japanese homes, the changing seasons were appreciated through hanging scrolls and ikebana. Designer Kenji Nishio has adapted this concept for modern living, creating a product that allows one to display plants as easily as hanging a clock.
The angle of the displayed plant can be adjusted to create various expressions. The back of the plate features a hook, allowing it to be hung on the wall like a clock, or suspended using fishing line or string, offering two display methods. Furthermore, as the plants gradually dry, they require minimal care, making them even more accessible.
Nishio also designed the table "Kōdai" (Pedestal), notable for its charming small size. "Kōdai" traditionally refers to the ring-shaped base at the bottom of teacups and bowls, a functional element that makes them easier to hold and allows for graceful handling. This time-honored function is reinterpreted in the "Kōdai" table as a design element to carefully hold cherished items and enhance the user's interaction with them.
Its minimalist form is achieved through a craftsman's hand, shaping beech wood on a lathe. The perfectly flat top and bottom surfaces, along with the elegant curves of the sides, showcase the artisan's skill.
Available in four variations, each with differing heights and surface dimensions, they can be used upside down or combined for creative arrangements. The deliberately understated design blends seamlessly into various modern living spaces.
It's a versatile piece, perfect for houseplants, pet food bowls, or other uses depending on your environment.
Finally, "Kokokoko" is the creation of Hiroshi Komiyama. This modular, C-shaped furniture piece encourages flexible combinations. Designed to spark new experiences in daily life, the creators have intentionally avoided defining specific uses, allowing for diverse placement and application.
It can serve as a low table when sitting on the floor, a shelf, a child's study desk, storage beneath a desk, or a pedestal for displaying objets d'art. It appears suitable for use horizontally, vertically, upside down, or in various combinations of sizes.
The colored C-shaped sections, which inspired the name, are crafted from maple wood, known for its luxurious, smooth grain. The majority of the piece is made from lumber core material, valued for its lightness and resistance to warping.
"Scenery at 70cm" offers a collection of delicate products that align with the Japanese aesthetic. Consider bringing a touch of color and refinement to your space.
