The Contour Chair was introduced in 1949 by Danish designer Børge Mogensen. Its innovative and sculptural design, utilizing molded plywood, represented a new challenge for Mogensen, who had previously prioritized popular appeal and functionality.

However, only a limited number were ever produced, including those in his own home. Now, approximately 70 years later, CARL HANSEN & SØN is reissuing this iconic piece.



While its sculptural design clearly sets it apart from Mogensen's other furniture, his signature attention to detail is evident in the use of mortise and tenon joints and wedges. The cutouts in the organic shell shape not only serve as a design element but also function structurally to securely fasten the seat.

Despite its compact size, the Contour Chair offers exceptional comfort and is sure to complement a wide range of interiors, whether classic or modern.
